Vittoria!

Timbuktu just won at the Italian Innovation Day, beating the other Mind the Bridge Competition finalists, a startup competition in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo-Startup Initiative, University of California at Berkeley, Italian Business&Investment Initiative and BAIA-Business Association Italy America.

And it came to life

Eventually it came to life! As Timbuktu continues its quest for success in the Apple App Store, I was asked to draw four pictures to be included in a presentation that will take place today in San Francisco.

Unfortunately the timing wasn’t right, as my home in London suddenly was struck with the worst possible problem and I had to go at a friend’s place. However i managed to draw and color them last night in less than four hours.

Nana Bobò – Locandina / Film Poster

Questa è la locandina per il corto di diploma realizzato quest’anno con i miei compagni al CSC. Il corto ha anche un sito, per ora in costruzione. L’illustrazione è ispirata a una scena più o meno a metà del film, e l’ho fatta con dei pastels à l’ecu.

This is the poster for my graduation film, which I made in a group of four students. The short film has a website too, still under construction. The illustration revisits a scene about halfway through the film and I made it with ecu soft pastels.

There was a naughty boy II – Montaggio

Qui invece le varie fasi del montaggio:

La sera di venerdì ho occupato metà della mia aula di diploma (sto finendo il terzo anno di animazione al CSC) per tagliare gli A4 che avevo stampato a casa la sera prima, incollarli con la Vinavil, piegarli e pressarli sotto un hard disk appesantito da bottiglie di acqua e tequila.

Così la mattina dopo ho avuto il piacere di alzarmi alle 5am per prendere un pullman che da Cambiano mi avrebbe accompagnato a Lucca. E indietro la sera stessa.
Ad ogni modo quest’anno Lucca è stata davvero piacevole, ho rivisto tante belle persone, il libretto ha riscosso un discreto interesse e sono tornato a casa con delle belle pubblicazioni di Teiera, Delebile e Inuit. Da tre anni la prima cosa che faccio quando arrivo a Lucca è andare all’area Self, so per certo che troverò lì le cose più interessanti della fiera.

There was a naughty boy I – Design

Una decina di giorni fa mi sono resto conto che questo weekend ci sarebbe stata la fiera di Lucca. Non posso – ho pensato – tornarvi senza portar qualcosa di mio. Così, per cinque sere, più o meno dalle 21 alle 24, ho schizzato, disegnato, impaginato, stampato, incollato e rilegato un libercolo ispirato a una storia trovata qui ed erroneamente datata 1818 (una scansione del testo integrale si può trovare su Google Books.)
Avevo letto l’estratto un mesetto fa e da bravo ragazzo cresciuto nel buonismo di fine secolo ventesimo l’avevo davvero esilarante, pensando che non sarebbe stata una cattiva idea illustrarlo.
